Annika: Clinic Director
She started her career in the NHS in Liverpool where she specialised in musculoskeletal outpatients treating conditions such as back pain, headaches, sports injuries, repetitive strain injuries, post operative conditions including Total knee and hip replacements, rotator cuff repairs and ligament reconstructions and chronic pain. Private sector work alongside this enabled her to gain experience in providing treatment for medico legal cases and return to work clients. She is also fully qualified in Acupuncture and can use this as an adjunct to treatment.
Following a move to Scotland in 2011 to take on a clinical lead role for BMI Private Hospital, she furthered her treatment skills by training in Clinical Pilates through APPI (Australian Pilates & Physiotherapy Institute), setting up a range of popular mat classes for rehabilitation and general fitness.
In 2013 she made the move with her husband to Australia where she worked rurally in a fast paced private sports injuries practice in New South Wales and then in a private Physiotherapy and Pilates clinic in Sydney. Here she gained the opportunity to specialise in Clinical equipment Pilates using the Reformer, Trapeze & Wunda Chair treating a mixture of clients from those with back pain or recovering from post operative spinal surgery, to ballet dancers & athletes.
She has a special interest in treating Sacro Iliac Probelms (SIJ) & uses a mxiture of Muscle Energy Techniques and Clinical Pilates to aid recovery.
She is also fully trained in both Ante & Post Natal Pilates & runs an increasingly popular Mum & Baby Post natal mat class as wella s offering 1:1 & duet equipment sessions.
Her main aim is to aid people’s recovery, to reduce pain and allow them to return to normal function. Through the use of hands on treatment and Clinical Pilates Annie feels the two work in unison together to help resolve issues and prevent them from re occurring.
